This is my entry to the Blogger's Quilt Festival 2011.
I called the quilt "Sonnenschein" (Sunshine) because it is so bright that even on a grey day it lights up the room. It is my first attempt to sew kind of a big wheel and , as usual, I tried to achieve several things at once: Using mainly scraps, trying to achieve a color wheel and trying the paper piecing technique.
I was amazed by the result and found my color combination skills have improved over the last year; the only thing I still struggle with is that when I paper piece and remove the paper, sometime the stitches are pulled apart a little.
Any tips to avoid this are welcome!

AntwortenLöschenZum PP: welche Stichlänge und Papierstärke nimmst du denn? Je kleiner die Stiche und je dünner das Papier, umso einfach er lässt es sich raustrennen. ich finde auch, dass es einfacher geht, wenn man erstmal eine Seite freigelegt hat und dann das Papier umfalten kann. Das lockert es nochmal. Und außerdem möglichst flach ausreißen. Also nicht nach oben weg.
PP mag ich aber aus genau diesem Problem auch nicht so sehr. Nur für Kleinigkeiten ist es ok.

AntwortenLöschenlovely!! i want to do a rainbow quilt sometime. so unsure of myself in trying to figure one out, so just procrastinate the whole thing!! really wonderful. one thing i've found is the shorter my stitch length the better results i have. thanks for sharing and have a great day
AntwortenLöschenoh...just noticed you're from frankfurt--we lived their twice--late 70's and late 80's and just loved our time there. lived in nieder eschbach for a few months--on an der walkmuhle strasse. wonderful memories of our time there. such fantastic history to drink in

AntwortenLöschenThis is lovely! My tip would be to make sure you have shortened your stitch length quite a bit. That was the paper is nice and perforated and is easy to remove.
